Exemptions & reductions

Exempt: children under 6; every third and subsequent child in a family where at least three liable children are under 16; specified relatives/partners visiting a resident or person working/training on Langeoog when hosted free of charge; people staying solely for work or training, including FSJ/FÖJ participants employed on Langeoog; qualifying companions of severely disabled persons (if they do not use tourism facilities); bedridden or otherwise unable-to-use persons; sailors/sport-boat users entering the harbor for danger prevention for the duration of the danger. Partial relief: children and supervisors in youth hostels/youth or school camps pay the applicable child rate; persons with a degree of disability of at least 70% pay 75% of the applicable contribution. Proof and a written application are required; partial-relief applications are due 14 days before arrival.

Short-term rental & host rules

For short-term accommodation, every accommodation provider (Wohnungsgeber), and operators of airports, tent sites and boat berths, must appropriately request liable guests to pay the guest contribution and make the statute available by display or provision. Anyone hosting people or temporarily letting accommodation must, on the municipality’s request, report paying guests using the municipality’s forms with the required personal and arrival/departure data. Every accommodation provider must keep a guest register and enter each guest on arrival with name, address, and arrival/departure dates. The official sources state these guest-contribution duties; they do not state a Langeoog registration-number, Wohnraumschutz, or Zweckentfremdungsverbot requirement.
